Moving To Manitoba
See Niverville Insurance for your Drivers Licence and Automobile Insurance.
- We are a licenced broker for Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation with three online terminals for faster, more efficient service.
- We will provide you with a computer-generated quotation so you will know what your insurance and registration will cost. We will also discuss coverage and payment options that are available to you.
- We have 7 on-staff Commissioners of Oaths, who may be able to help you qualify for discounts you would otherwise not be eligible for because of a gap in your driving history.
What You Need To Insure Your Vehicle in Manitoba
| Step 1: |
Be sure you brought with you a claims history letter from your previous insurance company. If you need, we have a New Manitoba Resident Form that you can send to your previous insurer. You can also get this form from the MPI Website: www.mb.ca.
|
| Step 2: |
It is best to get your Manitoba Drivers Licence before buying your Autopac Insurance or you won't qualify for a premium discount. You must get a Manitoba driver's licence within three months of moving to the province. Sooner of course, if the drivers licence from the place you left expires before the 3 months. To set up a Manitoba drivers licence you must bring in your birth certificate and or a passport and current drivers licence.
|
| Step 3: |
Have your vehicle inspected. Before you can register your vehicle in Manitoba, you must have a Certificate of Inspection (safety) issued by a Manitoba Vehicle inspection station or a valid government-approved Inspection from the place you left. Call us to find out which other government-approved inspections are accepted by MPI.
|
| Step 4: |
Get your Autopac Insurance. If your vehicle is privately owned and used non-commercially (including trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 3,700 kg or less) you have 3 months to register and insure your vehicle. This is done in one package in Manitoba and we provide you a policy guide and review with you what you get.
|
Be sure that you bring your:
- Certificate of Inspection (safety)
- Existing registration and insurance papers
- A claims history letter from your previous insurer for the last six years.
- If your vehicle is leased, we will need a copy of the lease agreement.
